Purity & Safety

Equine, Canine and Camel plasma and red cells are harvested using the same stringent controls and pheresing equipment as is used in the collection of human blood products. Plasvacc is registered with the APVMA as an approved plasma manufacturer, and all of our products are registered with both the Australian Pesticide and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) and the New Zealand Food Safety Authority (NZFSA). Our system utilises a completely closed collection method, which ensures freedom from outside contamination.

No preservatives are added to any of our products. The anticoagulant used during plasma collection is sodium citrate. Plasma is frozen immediately after collection and stored between -17 to -40 degrees Celsius until sold. Protein levels are monitored regularly during the pheresing procedure. Safety and sterility tests are performed on every batch of plasma. Immunoglobulin quantification is performed in our lab using standardised radial immunodiffusion tests.
